Rest in peace, Larry Norman

For those of you who don’t know, Larry Norman was the original Christian rock musician. His message was so raw, Christian book stores persistently refused to carry his product.

Norman died last weekend after years of terrible heart problems. I offer my thoughts on a gifted — and deeply troubled — individual at Emerging From Babel.

Take it away, Larry!

I had no idea who he was.

I like the Rock ‘n’ Roll comment… “you’ll be deaf before you’re 33, just like me!”

It would have been interesting to witness an era when this was considered “radical”. Now, Christian music is very common, and very watered down, IMO.

Well looks like the visits over..

My buddy Gary and I listened to his copy of “Only Visiting this Planet” until Gary’s disc was more hiss than Hallelujah.

The enduring message I recall from Larry’s ministry was “Without Love you ain’t Nothing”

I suspect Larry would prefer people say see you later than goodbye.

    Later Larry 😦

    “Without Love You Ain’t Nothing” — I’d forgotten that tune, but it’s a good’un.
