“Elite!”

Exams are now pretty much finished for me, which has allowed me some down time. Amongst this downtime, there are the regular things like hanging out with friends and such, some chances to fiddle around with Linux OSes, and, of course, an abundance of time to watch Comedy Central! 😀

I thought this clip here was worth sharing. It was pretty vintage Stewart, and one of the better Daily Show clips I’ve seen in a while.

When Stewart’s at his best, he not only makes you split a gut — as per Stephen Colbert — but he can come up with some pretty thoughtful points to boot. That’s not to say that Colbert never does, but Stewart still comes across as more genuinely thoughtful, to me.

The point about the elites at the very tail end of the segment was one of those moments, IMO. There was a lot of good political humour all the way through. But then the tossed-in “You might have your head carved into a mountain! Let’s hope you think you’re better than us!” at the end was the clincher on a great clip.

It’s clips like these, that rub against Mainstream Media’s usual slants, that still make the Daily Show worth watching!

That was an outstanding Daily Show clip!

The best comedy has always been hit and miss. Both Stewart and Colbert have their good nights and their bad nights. But when they’re on their game, they’re as good as anyone I’ve ever seen.

That line, “When the whiskey is gone, you can use the velvet pouch to hold your broken dreams” — ooh, that was nasty! And funny!

The clip is also hammering away at a really important issue. What is this bullshit? — “Who would you rather have a beer with?” as a test for who would make the best “leader of the free world”! Stewart provides exactly the right response: Don’t we want a President who is superior to the rest of us?

Of course we do. We’ve tried the other sort of President, and look how badly that turned out.

Saw it, loved it! I’m a huge fan of the show and watch it regularly. It helps me to laugh at things that normally would make me cry. 😛
