Let’s see Sarah Palin do this

John McCain and his choir insist that Sarah Palin is as qualified as — in fact, more qualified than — Barack Obama.

OK then! Let’s see Sarah Palin do what Obama does here:  go head to head with a hostile journalist and respond to a lot of tough questions on intractable issues. Agree or disagree, it’s obvious that Obama has actual opinions of his own which he is able to articulate and defend in the face of aggressive interrogation:

Obama has opinions of his own, whereas there is a “paucity of any Palin record or expressed conviction on the major issues of our time.” (The quote is from right-wing commentator Charles Krauthammer, breaking with his own party.)

I said, in an earlier post, that Palin would have to answer media questions at some point. How naive of me! The McCain camp plans to protect her from media questioning, for “two weeks or so“.

That is simply outrageous. Americans go to the polls in 60 days. That’s already an awfully compressed time to introduce a candidate who was completely unknown to all of us eight days ago.

If Palin isn’t ready to face the media, she sure as hell isn’t ready to be Commander in Chief. Don’t feed us this bullshit that she’s more qualified than Barack Obama.

On this point I tend to agree with you. She needs to undergo her “baptism under fire” from an antagonistic media pretty durn quickly, or lose her currently limited credibility. This from C-Span on 2/24 is interesting, but hardly conclusive.

    Ain’t this fun?

It’s crazy that she needs two weeks to cram and that they think two weeks will actually make enough of a difference. Glenn Greenwald has a great post today though pointing out that the media may go so easy on her it won’t really matter, especially considering expectations will be so low.

Palin go on O’Reilly? Sounds good!
